Beth Jacob was established in 1898. Founded by former members of Agudas Achim who wished to daven (pray) in a different manner, they met in a series of homes and shops along High St.

In 1909 Beth Jacob purchased their first building on Donaldson Avenue. The brick building had 2 large cathedral windows and, in a traditional manner, had it’s bimah located in the center of the main sanctuary. A balcony was provided for the women’s section.
