By 1843, the N. Gundersheimer Co. had established a store on S. High Street. Nathan was the second Jewish man to settle Columbus in the late 1830’s and was soon joined by his brothers, Abraham, Isaac and Joseph all of whom were involved in the early clothing business in the city. The family remained in the clothing business in downtown Columbus until 1968.
