Morris Luper and his wife, Anna Zeldin Luper, immigrated to the U.S. in 1906. They came directly to Columbus where their son had already settled. Morris had been a baker in Russia. Their bakery in Columbus was expanded to include groceries. The address is recorded in various places as 495 E Mound, 496 E Mound and 486 E Mound.
The street view photo shows the neighborhood in 1922. Luper’s is on the left. This photo is a part of a Ohio State University thesis by Forest Ira Blanchard “1922: An Introduction to the Economic and Social Geography of Columbus, Ohio”.
