Members of the Columbus Jewish Historical Society turned out on September 5 to celebrate two openings: The long-awaited viewing of the newly renovated and expanded archive space and the accompanying exhibit Treasures From The Archives 2020-2023.

The archive expansion on the lower level has dramatically increased the storage capacity of the archive. With new temperature control and conditioning, new shelving, low impact lighting, and proper wall, floor and ceiling paint the new space welcomes the collections of central Ohio. The expansion was made possible through the dedication of our donors, especially the Wasserstrom family.

The Treasures From The Archives exhibit was designed to demonstrate the numerous things collected by CJHS beyond the paper records. Items on display came in during the period starting with the pandemic- the time when many people and organizations were re-thinking their surroundings and what they had collected over time. We celebrate and honor the many years of Jewish life and continue to collect the history that we all make every day.

CJHS is offering tours of the archive and the exhibit. Contact us to schedule your visit. The exhibit is open Mon-Thursday, 9:30am to 4:30 pm and Friday 9:30am to 12:30.
